Hope you are having (or had, depending on when you read this) a great weekend. Here in Ohio it’s been sunny but cool, hovering around 50 degrees. Time for another installment of treasures I’ve found at the thrift store.
I stopped in my favorite church-run thrift store with just 15 minutes to spare before my haircut appointment. So, I knew it was gonna be a quicky. And I found my most exciting treaure yet, at least in my humble opinion.
A West Bend Bread Machine, complete with instruction book. Yep, that sticker says $3. Have I told you how much I love this store? I can hardly wait to go buy some yeast so I can try this out. I’ve been looking at bread machines at yard sales but was still too cheap to pay $10 or $15 for one. For $3, I won’t feel guilty if I only use it once or if it doesn’t work.
This cute little woven box was only 25¢. It says Tommy Bahama Fragrance on the bottom. I think it will make a cute little storage container for some craft supplies. I may or may not paint it, I just haven’t decided yet.
I thought this little white dish was so darling with the scalloped edge even though it has a little crack. It now has a home on my kitchen sink to hold my dish sponge. Only 50¢.
My blog friend Rebecca at You Are Talking Too Much recently did a post on Thrift Store Trays and I thought that it was such a great idea. I had never seen these trays around but mentally filed the idea away for someday. Imagine my surprise to find this just a couple weeks later. When I saw that teeny-tiny price tag, 25¢, I just couldn’t pass it up. Even though spray paint season is pretty much over until spring, it will get a coat of turquoise or teal and sit on my nightstand. {If you haven’t seen Rebecca’s blog you should definitely check it out! She is incredibly funny and does some very cool furniture makeovers.}
My last find for this day was this little apothecary jar. Again, just 25¢! Earlier in the summer, I had picked up a couple of these to sit on the bathroom sink to hold cotton swabs and cotton pads. One looks just like this only larger and the other is short and round. The short one’s lid doesn’t fit properly and I’m really just not fond of the shape for some reason. So I think this will replace that one.
Of course, I couldn’t go on vacation and not hit up a thrift store. Can we say “thrift store junkie”? Guilty as charged. =) Even my darling hubby agreed to go with me. {Smiles} It was raining so, what else were we gonna do? I think he enjoyed it, maybe just a little bit. Otherwise, he’d have been sitting in the cabin by himself.
Don’t you just love this bookend? I couldn’t pass it up for only $1.99. It could definitely use a little freshening up, but again, it will have to wait ’til spring. The Styrofoam cones were a great deal as well…49¢ for the large and 29¢ for the small. I see a couple little Christmas tree crafts in the near future. Maybe something similar to the Tissue Paper Candy Corn I made last month. Here is another shot of the back so you can see it is flat.
We also checked out the Goodwill. I think this is a plate holder or at least that’s what I’m gonna use it for anyway. Spray painted black with some white plates holding little appetizers.
I’m pretty sure I’ve got some plates that will fit. I can think of a couple uses…holiday entertaining, snacks for our quarterly hosting of our Euchre club. Price ~ 99¢.
Have you ever seen anything like this? I just thought is was so unusual. I’m pretty sure it’s a vase. I can see it filled with the rocks I found at the VOA. Maybe with a candle in the center.
Again, just 99¢. I’ve given you a sneak peek at the last thrift store finds….
While these are ’80′s style peach colored mats, they are 11 x 14. Nothing a can of spray paint can’t fix…in the spring :/ Boy, come spring, I’ll be spray painting like nobody’s business =0
I have a couple more things to share that aren’t from the thrift store but I think they are awesome.
Isn’t this turquoise glitter peacock ca-ute? I think so anyway. He is 10 inches long from tip to tail and will be a fabulous addition to my Christmas tree. I got him at Christmas Treasures in Logan, Ohio for $7.95. I also picked up these star/snowflake ornaments…
They were in the clearance section, marked down from $14.95 to $7.48. I’m debating glitterizing them. Maybe only on one side. What do you think? Should I just leave them as is? They are a little bit plastic-y but they would definitely reflect the lights on the tree.
My thrifty tip for you today doesn’t necessarily relate to thrift stores. *Always check the clearance section.* You just never know what you might find.
Until next time, Happy Thrifting!!
Please take a minute to scroll down and leave a comment. I would love to know what you think. Did this inspire you? Will you be checking out your own local thrift stores? Or just say – Hi, I was here. Comments are the only way to let me know what you are thinking. If you enjoyed, please share with your friends or followers.

Thanks =)

P.S. I promise to change the compact fluorescent light bulb to a bright white light bulb so the pics don’t look yellow.

You scored big time! I can’t believe the price on some of those items! I thought I got an awesome deal on a cloche for $3.
I am so happy you shared this @ Show & Share, thank you!
