Thrifty Finds #9

Facebook Twitter

Hi!  How are you?  Have you missed me?

Working has put a little bit of a damper on my creative juices.  I have just been too tired to even think about being creative.  But that hasn’t stopped me from hitting the thrift stores a couple of times.  So let’s see what I’ve found lately.

First up, the Currier & Ives bell…

Currier & Ives Copenhagen Bell Series

These bells are generally marked with a number but this one seems to have been worn off.

I found my second piece of Pyrex.  The pattern is Town & Country.  Most of the ones I’ve seen online have been brown and orange but this is all brown.

This would usually have a clear glass lid which apparently it no longer has.

Lately, I’ve been finding a LOT of pottery.  Planters, vases, urns, pedestal pots…whatever you want to call them, starting with this green one.  I love the pattern on this.  It would be neat to replicate the pattern for a rubber/foam stamp.  It does have a couple spots where the glaze didn’t cover.

There are no markings on the bottom.  Anybody a pottery collector?  Would love to know what this is.

I found two different pieces of Haeger pottery.  This first one is creamy white with a soft matte finish.  This was made exclusively for Florists Telegraph Delivery (FTD).  Did you know that was what FTD stood for?  If someone had quizzed me on this, I would have failed miserably, lol.

The second piece has a totally different marking on the bottom but if you look closely it does say Haeger.   I would consider this mustard yellow with brown speckles.  It is a footed urn shaped bowl.

It does have a couple faint cracks in the glaze but it’s only around the foot of the pedestal and noticeable really close up.

This next piece is what I believe to be California Pottery as designated by the CP on the bottom.  It’s a pink color, maybe more pinky tan.  Very hard to describe.  Would make a nice fruit bowl centerpiece.

There is a tiny chip on the rim but it looks like it’s always been there since it is coated with glaze.

If you’ve been following along for any amount of time you’ll know I have a definite affinity for the colors blue or orange.  Which is why I couldn’t pass up this carafe.  My research says it was sold with Tang mix.  Yeah, that orange stuff the astronauts drink.  Personally, I think Tang is yucky but I LOVE this pitcher.

Tang Carafe Orange

I could see it filled with regular orange juice (not from concentrate, preferably).

When I was a kid, my mom always made Good Seasons Italian dressing in the cruet with the markings for vinegar, water and oil.  I’ve never seen one like this though.  It has vines all over.

The lid was pretty grungy looking but I think I’ve done a good job of getting it clean.  It may still go through the dishwasher for an extra strength cleaning.

I found a Seahorse Avon bottle that still has Here’s My Heart cologne inside.

I’ve saved my favorite for last, a Denkle Bros. Chocolatina tin.  I love the blue and turquoise color.  I might just have to keep this and store some craft supplies in it.

There is a tiny bit of rust along the edge of the hinged lid.  Again, only noticeable close up.

Did you notice there were no prices listed as I’ve done in the past?  That is because I’m getting ready to open an Etsy shop to sell all these great vintage treasures.  But you get first dibs since you have been such great friends.

Is there something you collect?  I would be more than happy to keep my eyes open for items for my friends and followers.  Just shoot me an email … andrea (at) oasisaccents (dot) com and let me know.  I hope to have my Etsy store open Monday so if you’re interested in any of these pieces please let me know before then.

Thanks so much for following along on my treasure hunts.  Makes you want to go hunting, doesn’t it? =)

Please take a minute to scroll down and leave a comment.  I would love to know what you think.  Did this inspire you?  Will you be headed to the thrift store to treasure hunt?  Or just say –  Hi, I was here.  Comments are the only way to let me know what you are thinking.  If you enjoyed, please share with your friends or followers.  Thanks =)
