Versatile Blogger Award

Facebook Twitter

Sometimes I feel like such a slacker.  I know, I’m just as busy as the next gal but that’s still no excuse.

Christina at I Gotta Create bestowed the Versatile Blogger Award to me two weeks ago and I’m just getting around to posting about it.  It happened exactly 3 months to the day of what I consider my first real post ~ Metal Lawn Chair Makeover .  I had 3 posts in January, 2010 but I was working full time and kinda freaked myself out about blogging in general.  It took me a year and a half to get back on the horse, so to speak.  The same day I received this award, I was packing for our getaway to Hocking Hills.  So checking my emails was on the back burner.  Add to that, no internet access in a cabin in the woods.  Let me just say, Never Again!!  I came home to 811 emails to look back through.  I’m almost caught up, only about 100 left to read. Geez, so without further lame excuses….

I WAS BESTOWED THE VERSATILE BLOGGER AWARD!!

Here are the rules of the Versatile Blogger Award as they were conveyed to me.
1. Thank & link back to the person who gave the award to you.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Send it along to 15 other bloggers and let them know you have awarded them!

Thank you so much Christina!  You really did make my day =)

My 7 Things:
1. I have always been crafty…I think it comes from my mom.  Growing up, she was always making something ~ Macramé, ceramic painting, crochet.  And I have none of these skills.
2. I’m an early bird.  Usually up by 6:30 am (EST).  ’Course it helps that my dog is, too.  That boy has an internal clock that beats any alarm.  He knows it’s time for breakfast.
3. I’ve lived in Ohio all my life.  Almost 43 years.
4. I am the oldest of 4.  I have 2 sisters and 1 brother.
5. I am an Aries.  Fire sign.  While I don’t follow my horoscope, I do see many similarities.  I can definitely be a hot-head.  But I can also be amazingly compassionate.
6. I am an animal lover.  Animal cruelty makes me want to kick some ass.  But I am still a meat and potatoes kinda gal.  Don’t see me being vegetarian any time in the future.
7. I am an incredibly sensitive soul.  I don’t handle rejection well, which has kept me from trying to sell the stuff I make.  I’m literally terrified but I’m trying to work on it.
How’s that for some honesty?
Now this part has been far harder than talking about myself.  Who should I feature?  What criteria should I use?  I’ve decided that these girls INSPIRE me to keep doing what I’m doing.
  1. Cathy at My 1929 Charmer …This gal has been amazing.  She always has something very nice to say and is a thrift store shopper after my own heart.
  2. Rebecca at You Are Talking Too Much … Another thrifty shopper, amazing furniture upcycler and incredibly funny gal, to boot.
  3. Ronda at Ronda Ready … Ronda is an Ohio gal, too.  I love that most of her stuff is video posts.  Sometimes it’s just easier to watch than read.
  4. Gina at The Shabby Creek Cottage … Crafty, crafty, crafty…’nuff said.
  5. Donna at Funky Junk Interiors … Single mom with a DIY attitude.  She makes junk look amazing.  Shares lots of info on photography, building your blog and so much more.
  6. Debbie at Debbiedoo’s Blogging and Blabbing … I have “met” some really great ladies from Debbie’s Newbie link party.
  7. Jaime at Crafty Scrappy Happy … Another great link party and wonderful commenter.
  8. Heather at Dollar Store Crafts … This girl has her hands full with 3 boys and still manages to create amazing things with stuff from Dollar Tree.
  9. Amy at One Artsy Mama … Host of another great link party and ballroom dancer.  So wish I could get the hubby interested in ballroom dancing, sigh.
  10. Diane at In My Own Style … I can’t say enough good things about Diane.  Amazingly creative.  And organized.
  11. Maggie at Midwestern Sewing Girl … Seriously creative and great tutorials.
  12. Shannon at Madigan Made … Great crafts and decor ideas.  You should see what she does with thumb tacks.
  13. Wendy at Chez La De Da … Lots of amazing tablescapes and a wonderful commenter.
  14. Lindsay at Southern Lovely … Home decor ideas and wonderful link party.
  15. Carole at Blue Chateau Interiors …  Another Ohio gal, showing how to live better, on a budget
Wow, my brain hurts now.  These are some talented, creative and inspiring ladies.  Go check them out and tell them I sent you.  I wish I could have mentioned all the wonderful ladies out there who share so much of themselves.  But then I’d never get to those last 100 old emails.  ;)
On a side note,  I was contacted last week by a writer on assignment for DIYNetwork.com.  She is doing a piece on refinishing metal furniture and asked to use my photos from the metal lawn chair makeover.  Wha?  Are you serious?  Things just keep getting better and better.  Of course I said YES!!  Can’t wait to see how that turns out.
Thank you all so much for keeping me motivated to continue and inspiring me to push my creativity to the next level.  I appreciate you more than you could ever imagine.
Andrea =)

Gee, thanks so much. Talk about slacking, I just seen this. I’ve been in limbo the last few days. Andrea, you are a special person, and I feel very lucky to have found you and your blog.

Wow I am so TOTALLY excited for you that you were contacted by DIY network on your metal chairs project. Your PHOTOS are going to be used. You’ve got to be dancing, my feet wouldn’t be on the ground yet. Way to go girl! I am so proud you and so excited for you. Can’t wait to see it, make sure you keep me posted!
